Bhangra is fusion of music and dance which originates from the Punjab region of India and Pakistan. In its earliest form it was a celebratory folk dance which welcomed the coming of spring, or Vaisakhi, as it is known.

Now Bhangra has evolved and in the past 30 years it has become integrated into popular Asian culture after being mixed with hip hop, house and reggae styles of music. Bhangra has come a long way from its humble beginnings in India but now it is recognised and enjoyed the world over.

Fusion (aka Bollywood Fusion) is the coalescence of the various dance styles that combine to form the basis of dance in South Asian movies. Whether it be classical Indian dance forms such as Bharatanatyam or Kathak, modern Indian dance forms such as South Indian filmi or Bollywood filmi, or western dance forms such as hip-hop, jazz, and tap, Fusion is literally the fusion of various dance forms.

Traditionally set around a story or theme, Fusion dance routines mimic life in a musical, and have evolved as the story of the 2nd generation Indian-American youth take their experiences of east meeting west.
